It is hard to imagine any greater threat to our nation than Obama’s 8 years, until you consider that had Republicans been in charge, we would be under E-Verify and Real ID by now.
By Dave Leach. Posted November 26, 2015, Thanksgiving. If anything written here is wrong, please correct me. I like thoughtful, well-sourced correction.
Republicans shuddered at an embryonic version of the same threat 22 years ago when Hillary pushed a national ID card through her “HillaryCare”. Republicans, conservatives, and radio prophets did not hesitate then to link national tracking with “Big Brother” (the friendly name for the electronic international tracking system envisioned in George Orwell’s book 1984) and the Mark of the Beast prophesied in Revelation 13-14, the only sin of which the Bible warns that every person who accepts it will go to Hell. Republicans, and even Democrats were so horrified in 1993 at the threat to freedom from national tracking, that it was a major campaign issue that propelled the Republican party to control over both the U.S. House and Senate for the first time in 40 years. What has happened to the GOP (“Grand Old Party”) in these 22 years?
OK, so without E-Verify, there is no other strategy for reducing our undocumented immigrant population. What has happened to the party I grew up with, that used to place so much confidence in the alignment of its positions with the Word of God?
Since Obama’s election I have tried to understand why God would let him win not just once but twice. He stands for the right to kill born as well as unborn babies, and for the right of survivors to redefine Holy Matrimony to refer to unholy perversion. Whether Obama is actually a Muslim dedicated to bringing America under a brutal caliphate or he merely behaves like one, America is equally unsafe. Nor has he done much for immigrants; especially after “Obama said he would enact immigration reform his first year in office and prevent parents from being separated from their children by deportation.”
Was Obama’s election and reelection simply God’s Judgment? Or is it remotely possible that Obama’s election has been a blessing, by saving us from the alternative which would have been worse?
November 29 update: I spoke again with Senator Ted Cruz after he spoke at Christian Life Assembly, just south of Des Moines, pastored by Warren Hunsberger.
Leach: Do you remember Hillary’s national health card in 1993? (Cruz nodded) Republicans then didn’t have to strain to associate it with Big Brother and the Mark of the Beast. (Cruz nodded again.) What has happened to the Republican party, that now we promote E-Verify?
Cruz: Well, E-Verify isn’t the same, in the context of immigration.
Leach: It is more mature. It is further movement towards the Mark of the Beast.
Cruz: But immigration can’t be enforced without it. [He said this as if our hands are tied; no matter how far along towards the Mark of the Beast E-Verify takes us, we must be on board because we just HAVE to enforce our current immigration quotas! I nodded.]
Leach: (I pulled out my Scripture card posted above) Here are some of my favorite immigration verses.
Cruz: (read for a few seconds) [I can’t remember how he said it; something about a minimal role for Scripture in guiding our immigration policy] We have to enforce our laws….(he said, as he passed my Scripture card to someone else)
Leach: Our laws have to conform to the Laws of God.
Cruz: The Bible doesn’t call for open borders of course.
Leach: Please consider those Scriptures.
Cruz: OK (or something like that)
E-Verify is a solution that doesn’t work to a problem that doesn’t exist, but that is not what it is about E-Verify that frightens me even more than Obama does. If you don’t share my alarm, please review Alex Nowrasteh’s study documenting its utter failure to reduce “illegal immigration”, the Rutherford Foundation article explaining its threat to our freedom from the perspective of Christian lawyers, and my study going into depth in the census verses and other Scriptures showing why freedom matters so much to God, with reflections from Orwell’s “1984”. And finally, my study showing that E-verify, implemented nationally and filled up with those “photo tools”, already meets each element of the description of the Mark of the Beast in Revelation 13. Here are summaries of my two Bible studies:
Census. Why did God kill 90,000 people with pestilence because King David took a census by apparently recording names and addresses rather than by counting money which God had told Moses (Exodus 30:12) was “a ransom for his soul unto the LORD, when thou numberest them; that there be no plague among them, when thou numberest them”? Could it be that God brings natural disasters upon people to skew government records because that protects people from the more devastating government tyranny that grows from government tracking of citizens, even under the most righteous of leaders? Does God think freedom is more important than life?
The elements of The Mark. Why do radio prophets and movies stilltalk about the implantable RFID chip fulfilling the Revelation 13 description of the Mark of the Beast, when the chip can’t be next to bone as it would be in the forehead? KJV says the Mark is “in” the hand/forehead. Later translations say “on”. But the Greek word epi can also mean “based upon” as it does in 1 Timothy 5:19 and Mark 4:4. Fingerprint records are “based upon” fingerprints from the right hand, and facial recognition photos are “based upon” the measurements of “nodal points” on faces.
“Forehead” is generally defined as only the part of the face from the eyebrows to the hairline. But the Arndt-Gingrich Greek lexicon gives an example from classical Greek literature where a woman is veiled “up to the metopon” (the Greek word in Revelation). The “metopon” therefore has to at least include the eyes, and the space between the eyes. The NAS New Testament Greek Lexicon agrees, defining the “forehead” of Revelation as “The space between the eyes, the forehead.” (See also metapon.com) This matters because “The region where eyes, nose and forehead intersect is ‘probably the most focused-on area in facial recognition’.”
We don’t know how much face recognition will evolve. It could incorporate iris scans, which can already be taken from “a few meters away”. (It already incorporates Surface Texture Analysis, developed by Identix, which photographs a patch of skin – such as on the forehead – and records “any lines, pores and the actual skin texture….It can identify differences between identical twins.” Cameras are already good enough to identify people reflected in someone else’s eyes.
Another reason every step we have taken so far towards the Mark has widely been considered judgment-safe is that Revelation says the mature Mark will involve “worship” of the beast. It is assumed Revelation warns only against the “religious worship” described in 2 Thessalonians 2:4. But Albert Barnes’ Notes on the Bible, commenting on Revelation 13:4, suggests the Revelation 14:9, 11 warning may be broader than that:
The word “worship” roskuneō – is not always, however, used in a religious sense. It means, properly, “to kiss”; to kiss toward anyone; that is, to kiss his own hand and to extend it toward a person, in token of respect and homage [to a civil authority]. [Regarding the same word in Matthew 2:2, Barnes says the Wise Men] came to honor him as a Prince, or a king, not as God. The original word implies no more than this.
We can’t know yet if the technology we already have is what John foresaw. But it comes close enough to satisfying his verbal description that we should not consider voters’ calls for more of it to be judgment-safe. God warns us to “resist the devil”, James 4:7; not see how close we can bring America under the devil’s reign and still escape Hell ourselves.

So what shall we do with this information? Vote Democrat? Send America to Hell through infanticide, perversion, debt, and Islamization in order to spare sending America to Hell through the Mark of the Beast? It isn’t just America’s fate that hangs on our response. It isn’t just “the other guy” with everything to lose.
Our only acceptable response is to change the parties. OK if Scripture can’t make the point strong enough for Bible believers, I’ll try Captain Kirk. When in Cadet school the computer made him choose between two unacceptable outcomes in a test, he reprogrammed the computer. That’s what we need to do. We need to communicate with candidates. We need to warn them about where they are taking us. We can’t wait until the election to express ourselves – that’s too late. We need to communicate with each other so we stop voting for the most dangerous of candidates. We need to pull voters and candidates out of the fire to save ourselves and our nation.
To understand how that is exactly what the following passages tells us to do, see my Bible study on immigration, Page 12.
1 Timothy 2:1 First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, 2 for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way. (ESV)
