The “usual suspects” with the Big Lie about Immigration Reform have emerged and exposed their ignorance and bigotry for all to see. It is in their “FAIR LEGISLATIVE UPDATE APRIL 29, 2013.”
Everyone must first be aware of who these people are that issued this “update.”
The Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR) was organized by ultra-liberal population restrictionist John Tanton of Michigan.
The former President of ZERO POPULATION GROWTH (ZPG), Board member of Planned Parenthood in Michigan and commanding insurgent of a failed national attempt to take over the Sierra Club to turn it into a national anti-immigration group, Tanton founded FAIR with cash from the Eugenics-based Pioneer Fund. Pioneer Fund financial support is famous for “studies” of Black penis size and its relationship to American crime rates.
Moreover, Tanton’s personal views (as exposed 20 years ago by nationally-known Linda Chavez) of Roman Catholics solidify his and FAIR’s ugly bigoted character.
FAIR is against immigration reform; FAIR is against immigration. FAIR advocates rounding-up every illegal immigrant and their American citizen children to deport them, American citizen children included. FAIR’s goal of total deportation would cost billions upon billions of dollars.
Example of its BIG LIE: When it conducts a “study” of immigration costs it includes American citizen children as immigration costs even though it has no idea how many such children there are, say in schools. It projects that any brown-skinned child is an immigration cost and NEVER projects long-term earnings of such educated children in the future to off-set current costs.
The words “Immigration Reform” in FAIR’s title mean nothing.
Its April 29th Update proves that beyond doubt. Here is segment one of the April 29 “Update” and our analysis of its protestations:
1. “Gang of 8 Breaks Promise on Back Taxes –
“A close analysis of the Gang of Eight’s amnesty bill (S.744) shows that illegal aliens will in fact not be required to pay back taxes in order to receive legal status, which the bill calls “registered provisional immigrant” (RPI) status.
This conclusion turns on one word used in the text of the bill: “assessed.” Under S.744, an alien may not even file an application for RPI status “unless the applicant has satisfied any applicable Federal tax liability.” (Sec. 2101, p.68-69) “Applicable federal tax liability” is defined as “all Federal income taxes assessed.” (Id.)”
This so-called analysis is ridiculous. One does not owe back taxes just because Congress says so. IRS must determine the facts involved. If a candidate for legalization states he has been in country for a decade and hasn’t filed income taxes, the IRS will determine any tax liability. Thousands of illegal workers file every year using Temporary Tax Numbers.
FAIR maintains illegal workers usually don’t make much money, thus they would not owe federal/state income taxes anyway, thanks to the Bush Tax Cuts. FAIR dishonestly wants it both ways.
Secondly, this is the opportunity for FAIR to implement its BIG LIE redundancy technique designed to turn shallow-minded people against the Senate’s attempt at Immigration Reform. It uses the word “AMNESTY” instead of Immigration Reform over and over in its transparent attempt to demonize Reform and the “Gang of Eight.”
“First, “taxes assessed” does not mean “taxes owed…”
“In short, despite the promises of the authors, the Gang of Eight has drafted a tax provision that will almost never require illegal aliens to pay “back taxes” as a condition of receiving amnesty.”
Not only does the Gang of Eight bill utterly fail to make illegal aliens pay federal back taxes as a condition of getting amnesty, there is no requirement that illegal aliens pay state or local back taxes either.
Again, the “amnesty” word without any legal proof the Senate bill is amnesty of any sort. “Taxes assessed” means “taxes owed.” “Almost never,” what a laugh? These people are intellectually dishonest. If taxes are “assessed” taxes must be paid for an application for legalization to proceed; if not, no legalization. Thus, the “promise” by the Gang of Eight – in reality a goal – of payment of back taxes is intact and unassailable until someone is “legalized” without paying taxes assessed.
As for “local taxes,” dishonest FAIR ignores the fact that illegal residents have paid any and all sales taxes required in their localities with every qualified purchase and pay local property taxes in their rents.
“Finally, the Gang of Eight gives employers their own amnesty by failing to require that they too pay back taxes for any illegal aliens they employed over the years. In fact, the Gang of Eight amnesty bill provides that any documents provided by an employer to enable an illegal alien to apply for amnesty may not be used against him in a civil or criminal prosecution for hiring that illegal alien. (Sec. 2104, p.120).”
Many studies conducted over decades have concluded that 75% of all illegal aliens caught and deported have been paid with paychecks with ALL proper withholding taxes, including Social Security and Medicare taxes paid into the Internal Revenue Service as required.
The Social Security Administration tells anyone that between $4 and $7 BILLION dollars-a-year are paid into Social Security/Medicare and not attributable to legitimate workers. FAIR ignores the fact that billions of dollars are paid into these funds by illegal workers for benefits they cannot receive.
Its joke about employer “immunity” is that, a joke. Employers have not been required to verify legal ability to work ever. They are only required to look at certain documents and to fill out a form stating they saw the documents.
The Federation for Immigration Reform fails in its attack on Immigration Reform.
